A 4-year-old boy, Swarnabh Saha, was found dead in his grandfather’s bathroom in Guptipara, Hooghly, after a 24-hour search following his mysterious disappearance. The child was last seen on Saturday afternoon when he left his home to visit his paternal grandparents. Swarnabh told his mother that he was going to play at his grandfather's house and would return after a short while, but after that, there was no contact.
The family filed a missing person report with the police on Saturday night. Authorities immediately launched a search, which continued throughout the night. The police conducted door-to-door inquiries, used sniffer dogs, and deployed drones in the area to locate the child. Despite these efforts, no trace of Swarnabh was found. His family, in conjunction with the police, scoured the neighborhood and nearby areas for any signs of the boy.
At around 5 a.m. on Sunday, the boy’s grandfather, Shambhu Saha, discovered Swarnabh’s lifeless body inside the bathroom of their home. "We found him unconscious in the bathroom and rushed him to the hospital, but it was too late," said Shambhu. The child was immediately taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The cause of death has not been confirmed, and the police have started an investigation to determine whether foul play was involved.
According to the family, Swarnabh had been in good health before his disappearance. His mother had tried to feed him on Saturday afternoon, but he said he would eat after playing and left for his grandparents’ house. The police are investigating all possibilities, including examining family dynamics, as there were reports of past tensions between Swarnabh’s mother and his paternal grandparents. However, the police have not yet provided any details on the investigation or confirmed any connection between the family’s issues and the child’s death. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident and have promised a thorough probe to uncover the exact circumstances of Swarnabh’s death.
